I have the general /usr/lib/sendmail running and the client started by
my init script.

        # Start the MTA
        /usr/lib/sendmail -L sm-mta -bd -q5m -C /etc/mail/sendmail.cf -X
/export/sendmail.8.12.10
        # Start the MSP
        /usr/lib/sendmail -L sm-msp-queue -Ac -q1m -C
/etc/mail/sendmail.cf

mailq -Ac

Shows loads of stuff waiting i.e. queued

Exert from my syslog

OK I have set the Tdefang in sendmail.cf to get of the unauthorized user
any reason why these mails are still hung.

Check to see your running the local submission process. On my system
its
merely starting sendmail as:

/full/path/to/sendmail -Ac -q5m

You can see those notices queued like:

mailq -Ac

As for starting it up at boot, you may need to tweak whatever OS your
running
sendmail scripts to start it. I know FreeBSD does not turn this on by
default. Dont know about other systems ATM, but I'd suspect there are
some
that operate in this fashion.
