If it hangs for longer than the busy timeout (the "-b" option to the multiplexor), then the multiplexor unceremoniously kills the Perl slave and tempfails the mail. Really, this should be re-implemented using Net::DNS, and we need a way to run DNS queries in parallel and collect the results as they come in. This is on the TODO list.
