Why? I found this greatly improved performance. I have a cron job
that copies the bayes db files over to a physical disk once every
day so there is no danger of losing the entire database if the ramdisk
would suddenly go away.

On my machine:

/dev/ram0 483886 46 458840 1% /var/spool/MIMEDefang
/dev/ram1 483886 132675 326211 29% /var/spool/bayes
