Well, I've just gone through your original posting again and found
your problem - you've specified the wrong socket.
Quoting from the HowTo:
INPUT_MAIL_FILTER(`mimedefang',
`S=unix:/var/spool/MIMEDefang/mimedefang.sock, F=T, T=S:1m;R:1m')
You've specified the multiplexor socket instead.
