As just discussed on IRC, that's not doable right now: it is not implemented in MirrorBrain to function as a file-serving mirror as well. It's doable by setting up a separate vhost, but that seems like a bit of a kludge, and the vhost would need a scan (which seems silly); but that would do what you want. > I guess what confuses me the most is that the local tree isn't treated > like other mirrors in the database. That's due to the above. > I'm also confused about what I should do when I add new files to my > local tree. Will they automatically start being served once the cron > scans pick them up on mirrors? When you add new files locally, they are immediately being served directly from the MirrorBrain server. As soon as a mirror becomes known (when it have synced and after it has been scanned), MirrorBrain switches its behaviour: it redirects to that mirror(s), and no longer serves from local. It would seem very useful to employ the MirrorBrain server also for sending files directly. After discussing on IRC a little bit with you about that, I have now written down this feature idea: http://mirrorbrain.org/issues/issue87 Thanks for your helpful thoughts!
