Idea: I saw someone's web page who put USB wireless cards (on a USB extension cable) at the focal point of a cheap parabolic wok. It's a lot easier to extend USB to where you want it to go than to extend RF. With the gain from the parabola and good placement, you might overcome the weak signal from the Linksys.
