Tim, are you referring to user groups (i.e., group(5)), or to login classes (i.e., login.conf(5))? If the former, the link Will pointed out is a reasonable one, but note that it *is* in fact the default on OpenBSD (at least, using adduser). If you're talking about login classes, I wouldn't think there's any benefit---have you heard there might be?
