No. This is not possible in OpenBSD. You can use approach mentioned in
 FAQ which you already read. If it's not running then probably your
card is not able to do even that (thx vendors).

Not sure why do you need that during boot. Partial help for console is
http://www.openbsd.org/faq/faq7.html#tmux (or for X)
