You might want to have a read through DJB's pages,
http://cr.yp.to/djbdns.html for help with DNS, it offers a good
explanation, although not related to the default install of OpenBSD,
it's still good background.

Check your /etc/resolve.conf has a valid nameserver. If not either
install BIND or dnscache.
