Hello,

i have just bought an Atheros mini-PCI card to put into my Soekris 4801 box. The card is recognized as:

ath0 at pci0 dev 14 function 0 "Atheros AR5212" rev 0x01: irq 11
ath0: AR5212 5.6 phy 4.1 rf5112 3.6, FCC1A, address 00:02:6f:39:61:75

during boot of OpenBSD 3.8.

I am experiencing 2 problems with this card:
Firstly i am unable to establish a WLAN connection when the mode is configured as 11g even though the man-page states that for AR5212 devices the 802.11g modes are supported. The only way i can associate my notebook to the Soekris is when ath0 is configured with mode 11b. When setting the interface to mode 11g i see the following message on the console:
ath0: device timeout
The man page states that "This should not happen." Is this a H/W issue or a driver problem?

Secondly i see at random intervals the following message on the console:

ath0: station 00:0f:20:95:b7:1e disassociate (reason 7)
ath0: sending disassoc to 00:0f:20:95:b7:1e on channel 11
ath0: received auth from 00:0f:20:95:b7:1e rssi 58
ath0: sending auth to 00:0f:20:95:b7:1e on channel 11
ath0: station 00:0f:20:95:b7:1e already authenticated (open)
ath0: received assoc_req from 00:0f:20:95:b7:1e rssi 57
ath0: sending assoc_resp to 00:0f:20:95:b7:1e on channel 11

I have checked the newsgroups and also the sources, but could not find out what the disassociate reason 7 is. Is this a problem with the WLAN card? The signal strength on my win notebook always indicates a value between good and excellent.

Does anybody have any ideas or hints at what or how i can investigate?

Tia,
Stefan
