The problem is not thruput but latency. Regarding thruput, a Mp3 file anywhere today is like a raindrop in the ocean.
Clementine may have special code which expects the network to be slow and flaky, code which helps in keeping playback smooth over the network, code which does not run when acessing local files. From what thou write, it seems indeed, that thy local filesystem has a problem.
