I never used something else. And if I install a package that bloats my system with cups as dependency, I delete immediatly the package and its dependencies. Perhaps needs lpd some little, well thought improvements, as also many other tools, but I think, in many cases the best to do is to do nothing. Thank you very much for asking. Rodrigo.
