Thanks Todd. Superb the super devs have swiftly solved it! (This operation ran fine from my rc.firsttime script up to 5.9.) Do you think there would be an errata about this for 6.0? Personally, I've only a few more machines to install 6.0 on, so I'll script this (which works): # usermod -L daemon -s /bin/ksh operator and after install manually vipw(8) operator's password to 13 stars.
