Short question: How can I obtain the virtual MAC associated with a
given carp interface from the command line on that server?

(Alternatively, if someone could tell me how they are generated, that
would work just as good)

---background info---

In the process of deploying a pair of carp + pfsync openbsd firewalls to
replace an older linux-based firewall, I have run into a platform
difference problem I'm trying to solve - there are key differences in
how each platform handles proxy arp.

Where linux can simply enable this on an interface via the /proc
filesystem, either individual maps need to be set-up via "arp -s", or to
use a userspace daemon like choparp (my current direction). The problem
with choparp is that it needs to be told what MAC to reply with, which I
would like to encapsulate in a script that does the following:

a) get virtual MAC for the relevant carp interface (alternatively,
compute the MAC using same virtual MAC algorithm utilized in CARP)
b) launch choparp with appropriate network and MAC (from a)

Anyone have any ideas on how to accomplish this?
