Yes, but watch out for MTU problems especially if you have pppoe on one endpoint and ethernet at the other. See pppoe(4) about RFC 4638, if your provider supports this it may be useful. If not then you may need to lower the MTU on the ethernet interface on the ethernet- connected endpoint to match pppoe's MTU.
