I had an Lenovo IdeaPad that was shipped with Linux pre-installed. Must have been a different model. The trackpad did not ever work except on Windows. I tried Linux, and (Free|Net|Open)BSD. IIRC OpenBSD was diffilcult to get past post-install boot, and when it did there were so many CPU interrupts it was impossible to use. I don't think it is the best Lenovo laptop to run BSD (or even Linux), but maybe you will get lucky.
