Thanks. I already looked at mail/opensmtpd-filters and even started to
write a clamav filter by copying the dnsbl filter from there as a
starting point. I then re-thought about what made me install
clamav-milter back in 2003 on that system for that client and decided I
will not do it again today on a new system. Last time I had to deal with
an infected Windows laptop, the cause was not email, but the user having
run some malicious software himself. I tried for 3 days to see, if I can
find out what happened to the system. Tried various then famous virus
scanners including clamav. None of them found any issues. So
clamav-milter would not have caught it as well. Client got a call from
his bank telling him they would have disabled his account because they
were observing conspicuous actions. Not a single virus scanner I tried
did report any problem, although half of the OS (Windows XP back then)
had been replaced including Internet Explorer now asking for so called
TAN numbers on every online banking login. I'll keep it at just spamd
and smtpd from base and nothing else. Everything else just seems wrong
at the moment.
