I seem to be experiencing frequent LAN disconnections with my ethernet

more frequently since upgrading to
7.7, but definitely occurred previous to this version.

When it happens I lose connection to a computer on the LAN that I have
vnc'd into. I am not able to ping 'www.google.com' either. When I run
'ifconfig -a' it does not mention an issue (i.e., the rge0 still has an IP
address and says 'status: active').

I know the following does not really help but... I recently had a
connectivity issue with an rge interface. I rebooted to recover. What do
you do to resolve your rge connectivity issue? Or how long does it last?
Anything in /var/log/messages when it happens?

I noticed for the first time today a message in the console as follows:

     rge0: watchdog timeout

I have no idea what this means. I found a seven-year old Reddit exchange suggesting this indicates hardware failure (https://www.reddit.com/r/openbsd/comments/9eylbh/re0_watchdog_timeout/). Unsure if that is accurate. Would be a nice solution to the problem though. I am going to replace the board, since the NIC is attached to the board. We'll see if things improve.
Thanks, Aric
