When it happens I lose connection to a computer on the LAN that I have

I noticed for the first time today a message in the console as follows:
rge0: watchdog timeout
I have no idea what this means. I found a seven-year old Reddit exchange
suggesting this indicates hardware failure

Unsure if that is accurate. Would be a nice solution to the problem
though. I am going to replace the board, since the NIC is attached to
the board. We'll see if things improve.
