There are daily snapshot packages for the ones that need the absolute latest. > Would the discussion really have led elsewhere if I had used a more > tiptoey and preemptively apologetic tone? No, you should have refrained from saying "someone else needs to do work for me" > "My apologies for bothering by e-mailing, but is there a chance..." and it doesn't help if you start with "I am very humbly asking someone else to do a lot of work for me" either, though it is nicer, but it is still demanding that others work for you, and that is what is triggers the response. > Is it really entitlement, though? I've had a look through the Ports- Yes. You know you can either build packages yourself or use snapshots to get the more recent versions you want on your machine, but you are still opting for someone else to do the work for you, since that is more convenient. > If providing users with package updates truly is, by your very own > admission and own words, a pain, and that you are on the verge of > giving up on it, maybe you will at least consider asking others > in the project for help. You are free to set up build clusters for all arches -stable packages and publish those. Perhaps just start with arm64 and see how grateful people get and then expand to all other non-x86 arches after this. Bonus points if you can keep on doing it for years and years. -- May the most significant bit of your life be positive.
