Hello,

I know that this is an old zombie of machine but... my old funny Dell L400
Pentium III 256MB laptop, which I still keep for some reasons, considering
that i386 flavour still lives, today was upgraded from 7.2 to 7.8 (of
course one version by one).

It now fights with xorg: when gets startx it goes "(EE) no screens found".
Considering that mach64_drv.so is still present in
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/, I just went old school and created this
xorg.conf file:

---------------------beginning-----------------------
Section "Device"
    Identifier "Card0"
    Driver "mach64"
    Option "SWcursor" "true"
EndSection

Section "Monitor"
    Identifier "Monitor0"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
    Identifier "Screen0"
    Device "Card0"
    Monitor "Monitor0"
    DefaultDepth 16
    SubSection "Display"
        Depth 16
        Modes "1024x768" "800x600"
    EndSubSection
EndSection

Section "ServerLayout"
    Identifier "DefaultLayout"
    Screen "Screen0"
EndSection
----------------------EOF-------------------

Result doesn't change EVEN when I try with vesa framebuffer. Considering
this, that both mach64 and vesa fail, it looks more a xorg than a driver
quirk.

Any useful ideas? Looks like some regression to me, unfortunately cannot
say where in between 7.3 and 7.8, as 7.2 worked.
Dmesg follows.
Thanks a lot in advance
Paolo
