>From what I understand, all of these USB sticks just sends a text
string on a slow serial line once per second, so they should all be
perfectly compatible. Perhaps I'm out of touch and there are more
modern and precise options, but those I've used just show up as a
serial port over USB, and you get a nice clean stream of text.

PPS won't help you restore the correct time at boot though.
