It's better and would probably have avoided the confusion in this case. But I think some users will continue to mis-understand how it's intended to work. Either because they read a single log entry and don't see the clock immediately jump to the expected time, or because they think that it's repeatedly trying and failing to make the full adjustment in one go. Maybe, (independently of any wording change), ntpd(8) should include an explanation of what to expect in the log, and the reason the clock is drifted like this in the first place.
