Hi, While it's true that single core AMD64 + ARM64 processors are rare, there are a couple of good reasons to have non-SMP kernels. One is for virtualization use, VMD only supports single cores. And even aside from VMD, single vCPU VPSs are very common. The other is that there are a number of bugs related to SMP where you may be able to have a running system on non-SMP kernels. It can be helpful for debugging, if nothing else. -Henrich
