Summer is coming and for student like me, it mean nothing to do for a while. I usely play around with embedded system but I'd like to put my hand on a PCIe FPGA dev board for the summer.
Since I never made use of crypto card(but I know OpenSSH candirectly make use of them) I wonder if it worth having a crypto card on a faster bus? Does someone could take advantage of such card? Free-DES core are know to encrypt DES at the rate of 3.05Gbit/s(IEEE document), well this seem to be pass beyond the PCI/PCI-X bandwith but within the PCI-E range. Basicaly, is the PCI bus a bottle neck for crypto card or is it the chip on the card? If you do think that this project worth working on it, please let me know of how you think this could be better that the current crypto card.
