things that might be useful: - mounting the relevant filesystems 'noatime' - dmesg - a snapshot (copy-and-paste) of 'systat vm' while idle + while updating - traceroute to the anoncvs server generally I expect 'cvs up' of all of /usr/ports, with some but not thousands of modified files (which need to be uploaded to the anoncvs server for diffing), on a reasonably good network, to take 5 minutes or thereabouts. -- Please keep replies on the mailing list.
