I've discovered that using mirrors with http instead of https solves a
particular issue with Three mobile networks. I don't see connection retries on
Linux on the same network using https. I did use tcpdump but I couldn't see much
at all. It does seem to happen towards the end of e.g. BSD or base.tgz download.
I have no idea what's going on and http works (far better than using ftp -C to
get syspatches manually) but thought it might be worth mentioning. I assume it
would happen on any Three mobile connection but I have only had it happening on
a three mobile phone connection for years and even more recently a separate
three mobile broadband connection at a different mast but not far away.
Another noticeable thing about Three mobile connections is that without e.g. a
Warp VPN then google will ask for captcha to search because CGNAT means many
connections from each IP but I don't see how that would relate to https.
Especially when it's every time you try to download base.tgz usually or always
towards the very end of the download (CGNAT IP changes aren't that frequent).
