Don't know what do you mean by hardware problem, but device itself is
actually works.
Here is the relevant part of freebsd dmesg:

wi0: <Intersil Prism2.5> mem 0xf8000000-0xf8000fff at device 2.0 on pci2

So this is something openbsd specific. Sadly...
