MY suggestion..yes. Reasonable people may (and probably will) have differing opinions.
Here's a better idea: why don't you grab a bunch of different solutions and try 'em out? Don't trust us, make your own decision.
Keep the Big Picture in mind... Yes, it's the "insecure" use of apache, but this eliminates a bunch of other programs that would have to do the same thing, creating similar potential holes, anyway.
