After the heat I took trying to upgrade from 3.7 to 3.8 via source recompile, I took the advice to heart to simply untar some binaries right over the top of my running system, which seemed a lot more scary to me.
However, I'm happy to report that my system is now running 3.9 with little if any problems. CGI.pm got downgraded, so my webserver died until I figured that out, but everything else was minor. Thanks y'all for making it just work! -- Randal L.
