About 6 weeks ago we added mpi(4) to the tree to work on it as a replacement for mpt(4) to address several issues with the older driver. Over that period we tested and enabled it on all the architectures we could plug it into and kept developing the missing features that mpt had over mpi. About two weeks ago it got to the point that we felt it was a viable replacement for mpt, so much so that we removed the mpt driver completely. However, it wasn't till last night that I committed the last bit of functionality that mpt had that mpi didn't have.

So now we have a complete replacement for mpt that better supports the fibre channel controllers, adds support for SAS controllers, and copes with RAID volumes. However, since this is new code I would really appreciate it if people could test it out and let me know if there are any regressions. We want this code to be solid for the next release, so the more testing it gets the better.

The easiest way to test is install a snap and build a kernel from - current source. Then run the controller through whatever tests you feel appropriate and mail me (dlg@) and Marco Peereboom (marco@) with reports of any failures.

Thanks,
dlg
