I didn't spend more than a few minutes with Google, which wasn't terribly helpful (if I want search engine optimization, I'll just open my spam folder thankyouvermuch) but it appears my 'systrace' comment is right on. Really, do try. There's even a Linux version nowadays (though last I checked, there were some bugs still being worked out). You *will* want to know a thing or two about system calls, but that's almost inevitable.
