4.2-current is newer than 4.2, and downgrading is not supported. You must have newer userland and/or libraries than the kernel that you are trying to run with. In 4.2-current, there's been a flag day to accommodate for these changes: http://www.openbsd.org/faq/current.html#20070903 C.
