i found a reasonably priced MGE Nova 1100 UPS with serial connection, connected to the PC with a usb-serial converter.
dmesg: > uplcom0 at uhub2 port 2 "Prolific Technology Inc. USB-Serial > Controller D" rev 1.10/4.00 addr 2 > ucom0 at uplcom0 here's the latest ups.conf: > # driver = mge-utalk > driver = mge-shut > port = /dev/cuaU0 > desc = "nova" tried mge-utalk, also tried to set port as ttyU0. currently, if I do a: > sudo upsdrvctl -u _ups start i get: > Network UPS Tools - UPS driver controller > Network UPS Tools - MGE UPS SYSTEMS/SHUT driver 0.66 () > > Unable to open /dev/ttyU0: Device busy > > Current user id: _ups (529) > Serial port owner: _ups (529) > Serial port group: wheel (0) > Mode of port: 0660 > > Things to try: > > - Use another port (with the right permissions) > > - Fix the port owner/group or permissions on this port > > - Run this driver as another user (upsdrvctl -u or 'user=...' in > ups.conf). > See upsdrvctl(8) and ups.conf(5). > > Fatal error: unusable configuration > Driver failed to start (exit status=1) any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
