Is /etc/group documented somewhere, specifically, there are several _groups and I am trying to discover if they are read, I thought I had read that _groups were ignored, but can't find reference to it one way or another. man -a group makes no mention of files, nor the file, apropos /etc/group also yields nothing, any pointers are appreciated, also, is this a hole in the documentation, or just my understanding of it?
