Hi, I'm trying to run a couple of ntp servers using openntpd on openbsd 4.2 running as a vm on a vmware esx server. My problem is that the machines never seem to become completely stable. They become syncronised, but in 24 hours they may lose syncronisation 2 or 3 times.
I was wondering whether anyone on the list has been successful running an ntp server in this way, or is this a known issue with ntp on virtualised platforms? Is there anyway of tweaking the install to make it more reliable? If not, I will move the box onto some real hardware, but I only want to do that if it's the only way. Thanks in advance! Cliff.
