You should not be shy in bugging maintainers if something should work 
but does not. Just make sure it is not a known issue, FAQ or pebcak.

OpenBSD is not a business and you'd be surprised to know how people use 
it in "their" business.
On a side note, I think having a "secure by default" desktop is the 
best.

xterm != GNOME, so I'll leave that one to others ;)

On a side note, you may want to try -current as lots of bugfixes went 
into GNOME since 4.5 came out.
