this looks like it might be fixable by pulling in a newer version of the GNU regex library (well, it builds that way, but I don't use it nor do I want to learn how to configure it to test..), but I'm not sure if that's entirely a good idea, people may be relying on old behaviour. maybe it's better to mark it ONLY_FOR_ARCHS and direct people towards the more actively-maintained ports/sysutils/sec instead...
