it should be `cat > /dev/audio < /dev/zero &'

anyway, not important.  when there's no sound at all, it's almost
100% certain that the vendor is using the one feature of HDA
that is not discoverable, GPIO.  why do vendors do that?  so dumb.

can you send also `pcidump -x`?
