If I remember correctly, the following hack in /etc/sysctl.conf worked for me on a Pentium II machine: machdep.apmhalt=1 # 1=powerdown hack, try if halt -p doesn't work (I can't verify it because the machine is totally disconnected right now) regards, Remco
