yes this gave me a line pppoe0: lcp parse opt values: mru 1492 auth-proto [mine 0x0 != his chap] magic 0x4020519 send conf-nak in messages. So I changed the proto to 'chap' and things are fine :-) Thanks for the valuable input stuart :-)))))))))))) --Siju
