There is also the option of finding out why the old version doesn't work
on the new board. That may be too much trouble, but it might be really
simple. If you find the issue(s) it might be really simple to patch, or
not. Who knows until you see? But even if you have the expertise to do
the work it still introduces its own problems of slightly different
versions and the support that goes along with it.
