*Jim, After I receive a response from Mr Burris we will want to mass produce the invitations into as many mailboxes that we can so we can pack the house. This should be something that many Springfieldians should be concerned with so I hope numbers will turn out to see what it is that the city leaders have planned to solve this issue.*
This will give us an opportunity to formulate a plan that does not consist of a tax increase nor will it contain money the city council doesn't have for the bailout er..... rescue plan Mr. Burris, The next regularly scheduled meeting of our local taxpayer advocacy group will be held on Saturday Oct 25 in the basement meeting room of Carnegie Midtown Library from 1:00 until 4:00. We invite candidates or anyone else to address the issues of the day in the first part of our meeting. We have a deep concern with the pension plan and how the proposal of funding this short fall is going to be carried out. We would like to extend an invitation for you to show us the proposals of which you and the city believe will rescue us from a 140 million dollar underfunding. If your needing more time then the first hour we would grant you all the time that is required to show the plans you have come up with. I would like to see a Q & A period after the presentation so the people can have there input to what it is the city plans on doing. Many of us in attendance worked diligently to get the signatures which allowed for the city to be audited, even after being told by city council and the local media outlets that the audit would be a waste of time, a giant waste of money and that those in management of the city were doing the best possible job of representing the citizens of Springfield. After the release of the audit I for one feel vindicated that the concerns of many were answered and that management of this city were forced to answer to the people for which they work for. Many people have a distrust of city management and city government and this distrust has been earned by the city officials not just given. I look forward to hearing from your office and having the opportunity to hear the plans to solve the issue of the pension system once and for all. Sorry about the Saturday meeting but many of our members are either business owners or employees who have families to provide for and many do not have the opportunity to take off work for these types of issues.
