*As our Parks Director, Jodie Adams, is presently out of town, she asked that I respond back to your e-mail inquiry.
We are indeed selling a limited number of Christmas trees at the Rutledge-Wilson Farm as a part of our “Christmas at the Farm” event, which runs the weekends of Dec. 5-6 and Dec. 12-13. The request for Christmas tree sales had been a consistent and overwhelming request from the public during the first two years of the Christmas at the Farm event so we worked to better address that resident concern with our 2009 event. Basically, we contracted for a limited number of Christmas trees (100) through regular bidding process guidelines as required by the City’s Purchasing Division. We then offer the program as a “break-even” type of service to interested patrons visiting the park, with tree prices starting at $35 (6 ft.) and ranging to $50 (8 ft.) and $75 (10 ft.), based upon size and condition. As you might imagine, our feedback from the public regarding this service has been extremely positive. Hopefully this information will serve to assist as you respond back to your constituent. As always, please let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns.
