*SPRINGFIELD PUBLIC Meeting – November 9th, Noon *

*Urge THE City Council To Stop METH – Not MEdication*

* *

Springfield Council Chambers – 11/9 at Noon

City Hall - Fourth Floor | 840 Boonville Avenue| Springfield, MO 65802

Springfield is considering a local ordinance to require everyone to first
obtain a doctor’s prescription (Rx) before purchasing common cold and
allergy medicines containing pseudoephedrine (PSE). This doesn’t punish
criminals but it does cause the vast majority of law-abiding citizens in
Springfield to first see a doctor before buying the medications they need.

Please attend the meeting and stand in opposition to this effort! An
effective state law is already in place – one that blocks sales over the
legal limit.

If you call or if you attend – remember these tips!

   1. Always be courteous and let them know you are from Springfield.
   2. Ask to speak with him/her or someone from the office.
   3. Ask them to oppose making law-abiding citizens obtain a physicians
   prescription for common cold medicines.
   4. Ask for a response from their office if you must leave a message.
   5. Always thank them for their time.

*FACTS:*

   1. Missouri has in place a real-time, stop-sale solution that harnesses
electronic technology and stops illegal sales of products containing PSE.
In fact, e-tracking is blocking thousands of illegal purchases in Missouri
   each month.
   2. Mandating the prescription-only sale of common cold and allergy
medicines will increase the costs on our families and workers, and
overburden an already overstretched healthcare system.
   3. An “Rx only” law will make it more difficult for law-abiding people
to get the common cold and allergy medicines they need.
   4. Taking away patient freedom by requiring prescriptions for important
over-the-counter medications is not a solution.
