Specifically, the proposed ordinance <http://www.springfieldmo.gov/citycouncil/agenda/2013/01-13-14%20Council/201 4-004.pdf> would adopt a Memorandum of Understanding between the Missouri National Guard and the Springfield City Police Department for the purpose of fighting illegal drugs. They want to use National Guard resources and technology, including aircraft, to implement enhanced surveillance of the citizens of Springfield. Section 41.474 RSMo <http://www.moga.mo.gov/statutes/C000-099/0410000475.HTM> allows the governor to authorize this sort of plan. Are you worried about the militarization of the police? Then you should really be worried about using the military AS police.
