thank you for your email.
After you kindly pointed me to SWIG, I noticed that ITK actually uses a
modified version of it called CSWIG. They say it is best suited to handle
some difficult aspects of ITK.
Actually I don't understand very well how to run CSWIG, and, while waiting
from help from the ITK group, the question becomes: do you think SWIG will
suffice to do a wrapping of MITK or that CSWIG will be better?
I think that should MITK's code rely on very advanced techniques not covered
by SWIG, one could always create a simple, specialized C++ class that
encapsulates the difficult part and then wrap that class with SWIG. Do you
think it reasonable?
