mitk::VolumeDataVtkMapper3D supports MIP Rendering: http://docs.mitk.org/nightly-qt4/classmitk_1_1VolumeDataVtkMapper3D.html although, it uses a CPU based vtk mapper for MIP rendering, so it isn't really fast.
