Hi there, I've been playing with loading / saving of .nii.gz, .img.gz and even (just for fun) .gipl.gz.
I ended up raising this bug: http://bugs.mitk.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10783 and checked in the code (see bug report). Please can someone take a look, and let me know what they think. I think it would be generally useful, as it also should solve 10340, and to my mind 8790 appears to be fixed.... although I never tested it.
