Hi Fatameh, just to be clear. Which of the following are you enquiring about:
1. The accuracy of the segmentation. (You are segmenting something using MITK, how close is it to reality) 2. The accuracy of the volumetry calculation. (You have a segmentation, how close is the number shown as volume to the truth) 3. The accuracy of the volume visualization. (Does the volume visualization truly reflect what is actually in the body) The answers would be: 1. That is something you have to measure yourself. There is no way for us to answer that in any general manner. 2. We count the voxels within the segmentation and based on that number and the geometry information we calculate the volume. We do not account for e.g. partial volume. So if high accuracy is a real issue for you, you might want to measure this yourself. E.g. Scan an oddly shaped container of water containing exactly one liter using your acquisition settings. 3. Again we are "just" coloring the voxels, however I would not know what accuracy actually means in this context. As far as I am aware some companies using software based on MITK have scanned phantoms and measured them to pass certification processes for medical software, but I do not think there is a published/citable reference detailing point 2. Even if there was you might want to do it yourself, as you are pretty likely to use different settings on your scanner, which might result in different inaccuracies.
