Hi Stefan,
thanks for your clarification and the hint at the simulation module!
Regards,
Daniel

Subject: RE: OpenGL mapper plans
Hi Daniel,
it was decided some time ago to get rid of the *pure* OpenGL mappers. Until
now, they weren't removed completely but they are prone to vanish soon-ish. For
example when there might be changes as we discussed at the Users Meeting
(changing/removing the PropRenderer), this would be a show stopper for plain
OpenGL mappers like they are implemented in the LegacyGL module. However, as
you can see for example in the Simulation module, there is a better way to
write OpenGL mappers in a more VTK-friendly way anyways. This kind of OpenGL
mappers will be okay in the future as well. That is, by using specific VTK
classes for the purpose of providing a context in which you can use plain
OpenGL code.
Best regards,
Stefan

Subject: [mitk-users] OpenGL mapper plans
Hi,
OpenGL based mappers currently seem to be in a semi-supported state. Rendering
documentation [1] notes them as less common but still supported the module
documentation of LegacyGL [2] notes them as to-be-replaced some time soon since
a while. mitk::GLMapper contains a note on deprecation.
Can anybody comment on the current plans / potential timeline? Will GLMapper be
removed any time soon?
Regards,
Daniel
